Training - Movement Interventions for Scoliosis

As part of a joint project between USAID and Emory University,

invited specialist from Emory University, Physical Therapist Gail Friedhoff Bohman conducted a practical training for her Georgian colleagues - 'Movement Interventions for Scoliosis'.

The aim of the training was to develop skills for practicing physical therapists in the latest methods of selecting and performing appropriate exercises for scoliosis.

Physical therapists participated in the training from the Ken Walker University Clinic for Medical Rehabilitation, from Zugdidi Rehabilitation Center (Tanaziari) and future specialists, the students of the Faculty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of Tbilisi State Medical University.

Emory University specialist, physical therapist Gail Friedhoff Bohman visited Georgia for a month. Within the framework of the project an American specialist for the first time visited Georgia in 2017. She led the professional trainings planned within the project during a year. She was also actively involved in the clinical training for the specialists of adult physical rehabilitation.

The Physical Rehabilitation Project in Georgia has been supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) since 2017.

The main implementer of the project is Emory University School of Medicine with its partner organizations operating in Georgia:
-Partners for International Development (PFID),
-Coalition for Independent Living (CIL),
-Tbilisi State Medical University (TSMU).
